Claude-Mem
Persistent memory for coding agents: captures what your agent does during sessions, compresses it with AI and injects relevant context into future sessions. Installs with npx claude-mem install for Claude Code, plus OpenCode, T3 Code, Codex, Antigravity CLI, OpenClaw and more.
๐ฒ Open source (Apache 2.0). Memory can run on your own OpenRouter/Gemini key or your Anthropic plan; the hosted claude-mem observer has a 30-day free trial, then needs a subscription (price not listed in the README). Source: github.com (checked Nov 2, 2026).
Pros & cons
๐ Pros
- Context survives across sessions with search over project history
- Works across many harnesses, not just Claude Code
- Very popular (110K+ GitHub stars) and actively maintained
๐ Cons
- Installer pushes a cmem.ai sign-in by default (skippable with --provider or CLAUDE_MEM_ONLINE_OPTIN=false)
- v15.2.0-v15.8.2 browser setup uploaded 30 days of prompts to cmem.ai without asking; fixed in v15.8.3, but earlier uploads aren't removed
- Observer subscription price not published
Latest release
v15.8.3 privacy fix
Browser setup now asks before uploading anything: a consent panel lists each detected tool and its prompt count, and "Keep everything local" uploads nothing. Earlier versions (since v15.2.0) uploaded the last 30 days of prompts, with project names and paths, without asking; those uploads are not removed by the update. Update if you've installed it.
