NVIDIA OpenShell
The safe, private runtime for fleets of autonomous AI agents: each agent runs in an isolated sandbox with kernel-level policy enforcement on files, syscalls and network, and credentials are injected only for approved endpoints.
💲 Open source (Apache 2.0); self-hosted CLI, gateway and SDKs (Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust). Anonymous telemetry on by default, can be disabled. Source: github.com (checked Oct 23, 2026).
Pros & cons
👍 Pros
- Declarative per-agent policies enforced at the kernel level
- Formal verification flags risky new access before a policy change is approved
- Works with existing coding agents (e.g. OpenCode) and runs on Linux, Apple Silicon Macs, or Kubernetes via Helm
👎 Cons
- Early 0.1.x releases, still evolving
- Needs Docker/Podman or host virtualization; Windows (WSL 2) support is experimental
